Jessica Dean

SOPRANO

Soprano Jessica Dean is a Masters graduate of the Royal Academy of Music Opera Course, London. At the RAM, she was awarded the Kohn Foundation scholarship as a soloist for the inaugural Royal Academy’s Bach Cantata concert series.

Jessica spent ten years in Sydney as a soprano with Opera Australia, appearing regularly with the OA chorus. For the company she performed Barbarina (The Marriage of Figaro), Papagena (The Magic Flute) and toured the country as Zerlina (Don Giovanni) on Opera Australia’s regional tour.

For State Opera South Australia, Jessica has performed Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro, Josephine in H.M.S. Pinafore, Aline in The Sorcerer, Belle Bonner in Richard Meale’s Voss, Angela in Graham Koehne’s Love Burns which toured nationally; Marzelline in Fidelio for which she received a Helpmann nomination; Beth in the Australian premiere of Mark Adamo’s Little Women; Yum-Yum in The Mikado and Dew-Fairy in Hansel and Gretel.

Concerts include ‘Handel’s London’ and ‘Solace & Joy’ for Adelaide Baroque; and for the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Fauré’s Requiem, Haydn’s Berenice, che fai?, Classics Unwrapped, Gorecki’s Symphony of Sorrowful Songs and Carmina Burana. Also with the ASO, she sang the Mother in Tippett’s A Child of our Time for the 2021 Adelaide Festival.
