Our much acclaimed The Confident Conductor professional development series is returning in 2021.
State Opera South Australia is excited to invite teachers to develop their conducting skills in a warm and supportive environment. Designed specifically for primary and high school teachers who are relatively new to music ensemble leadership, these workshops will deliver basic conducting skills and techniques that can be used across choral, band, instrumental ensemble and classroom music groups. Whether you have been asked to conduct the choir at assembly, or lead the weekly recorder ensemble, this is an opportunity for you to come together with a group of colleagues and practice coordinating the rehearsals and performances, setting up and leading the group. Learn how to conduct music in multiple time signatures, how to cue entrances, cut offs, as well as tips and tricks for warm-ups, tuning and how to arrange your choir. Led by State Opera’s new Head of Music Anthony Hunt, this is a fun and relaxed way to develop and improve your music skills. Places for each session are limited.
