The Opera Academy 2021

Established in 2021, The Opera Academy is an initiative of State Opera South Australia as part of its ongoing commitment to Australian operatic talent. The program aims to create, develop, and enhance the career pathways for our most talented emerging opera singers.

The 2021 Academy will run from August to December online and in-person in SA, QLD, NSW, and VIC. This combined delivery acknowledges the complexities of the Australia-wide COVID restrictions and allows for expansive, flexible, and bespoke programming for each emerging artist which will deliver participants the best possible professional development opportunity.

In its first year, this highly competitive program has attracted significant interest, and brings together a cohort of singers and exceptional coaches from around Australia, as well as international guest teachers.

The Opera Academy is made possible through the generous support of the James & Diana Ramsay Foundation. Our emerging artists are supported by State Opera’s Rising Stars donors.
