Aidan Hodder

LYRIC BARITONE

Lyric baritone, freelance actor, and self-taught composer Aidan Hodder has had a hunger for performance ever since partaking in Opera Queensland’s high school residency programme. He is a versatile performer, composer and writer, and a graduate of Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University with a Bachelor of Music in Performance and a Graduate Certificate in Music Studies.

Guided by soprano and pedagogue, Dr Margaret Schindler, Aidan is frequently involved with the Conservatorium’s opera projects. He has appeared in every year’s mainhouse student opera, and every year’s Val Machin Scenes, a one-hour collection of operatic excerpts. His affinity for acting has lent itself to numerous comic and speaking roles among these performances, including a critically acclaimed Lord Chancellor in 2022’s Iolanthe.

In 2019 and 2021, Aidan participated in the Lisa Gasteen National Opera Program, and received musical and professional coaching from Lisa Gasteen, Bradley Daley, and Dr Nancy Underhill.

Aidan is a strong advocate for children’s education and involvement with the performing arts. He currently works as a presenter and script writer for the Brisbane-based educational entertainment company Dino Encounters, delivering educational experiences to schools, childcare centres, and children’s festivals across south-east Queensland with realistic animatronic dinosaur puppets and his signature dramatic flair.
