Anna Voshege
SOPRANOAn Australian coloratura soprano with German roots, Anna Voshege studied at the Melbourne Conservatorium before completing her Masters degree in Vocal Performance with Honours at the Musik und Kunst Universität Wien in Vienna.
Anna recently made her debut at the Vienna State Opera as Blondchen in the Hans Neuenfels production of Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail conducted by Stefano Montanari. Described as possessing a “nightingale’s dulcet finery” (Paul Selar, Herald Sun) and “coloraturas that float like pearls in the air” (Manfred Drescher, Der Opernfreund), her operatic roles span the coloratura soprano repertoire including the title role in Rossini’s Semiramide, Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos as well as Najade at the Richard Strauss Festspiele, Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier and Eurydice in Orpheus in der Unterwelt. Further roles include First Nymph in Rusalka at the Vienna State Opera, Ernestine in Offenbach’s Monsieur Choufleuri restera chez lui le…, the title role in Franz von Suppé’s Die schöne Galathée and ugly step-sister Griselda in the world premiere of Alma Deutscher’s Cinderella. In the oratorical repertoire she has been praised for her fluidity of coloratura as soprano soloist in Handel’s Messiah, as well as Mozart’s Vesperae solennes de Dominica and Davide Penitente with the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic the Vienna Stephansdom Orchestra and the Vienna Symphonic respectively.
Anna has had the pleasure of collaborating with renowned orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic, the Vienna Symphonic, the Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen, the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra among others. Additionally, she has performed with the Vienna Mozart Orchestra, the Vienna HoSurg Orchestra and in concert series with Alma Deutscher and the Strauss Kapelle at the Vienna Konzerthaus. Her accolades include being winner of the 2023 Micheal Byrne Vienna State Opera Award from The Opera Foundation for Young Australians, the Richard Strauss Singing Competition awarded by Brigitte Fassbaender and Gundula Janowitz and the AME “Opera Scholar of the Year” as well as the ARD International Music Competition and the IFAC Australian Singing Competition.
