Cherie Boogaart

MEZZO-SOPRANO

Cherie Boogaart studied at the Elder Conservatorium of Music and the Australian Opera Studio.

Roles performed with State Opera South Australia include Siebel (Faust), Nefertiti (Akhnaten), Kasturbai (Satyagraha), various roles in Love Burns, Giovanna (Rigoletto), Wowkle (Girl of the Golden West), Phil (The Station), Sandman (Hansel and Gretel), the Messenger (Underneath), and Maria in Maria de Buenos Aires, Mrs. Judd and Mrs. Bonner in Voss, Flora in La traviata.  

Other credits include South Pacific and The Mikado for the Adelaide Festival Theatre, He and She don’t go together for the Perth Cabaret Festival, Guys and Dolls with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Cindy (The Beauty Spot) and Songs to make you feel Sexy  for the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Sweeney Todd for Victorian Opera, and roles in I love you, you’re perfect, now change and Elegies for Singular Productions. 

Roles with other companies include Alisa in Lucia di Lammermoor for BelCanto Opera, and Third Lady (The Magic Flute), Dorabella (Cosí fan Tutte), and Orlofsky: (Die Fledermaus) for Co-Opera. For Victorian Opera she reprised the title role in Maria de Buenos Aires.  

She has most recently performed the roles of Edith in Pirates of Penzance, Lady Sangazure in The Sorcerer and Marcellina in The Marriage of Figaro for State Opera South Australia.
