Greg John

BARITONE

Greg John has performed regularly with the State Opera Chorus since 1992.

As Performing Arts Coordinator at Tatachilla Lutheran College from 1995-2015, he delighted in bringing people of all ages and abilities together to present musical theatre and choral performances.

In school and community projects, he has taken the roles of singer, actor, musical director, stage director, production manager, choral conductor, accompanist and organist.

He is currently Artistic Director of Big Sing McLaren Vale.

Winner of the inaugural Lewis Dawe Oratorio Prize, he has sung bass solos in a number of Messiahs and other oratorios.

Roles in amateur musicals have included Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, Judge Turpin in Sweeney Todd, Counsel and Usher in Trial by Jury, Pooh Bah in The Mikado, Hines in The Pajama Game, Mordred in Camelot, and Snake/Balladeer/Narrator in The Apple Tree.

For the Adelaide Festival of Arts, Greg has performed in Saul (2017), Hamlet (2018), Requiem (2020), Le Coq d’Or (2022) and Messa da Requium (2023).
