Young tenor Jiacheng Ding began learning piano when he was just three years old. He studied both voice and piano at the prestigious Nanjing Normal University in China where he was awarded the Bachelors Degree in Music Performance and Teaching. He was also the recipient of the Changjiang Cup – the First Prize of the National Normal Students Singing Competition.
In 2017, he moved to Australia to continue his study with a Masters of Music at the Elder Conservatorium – University of Adelaide under the expert tutelage of Rosalind Martin and graduated in 2018.
Jiacheng’s performance experience for the State Opera of South Australia includes Madama Butterfly, Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, and Don Pasquale. He has played the role of Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni for Co-Opera in Australia, and was involved in the Tuesdays on Flinders’ Series at Flinders Street Baptist Church in both 2018 and 2019. At Elder Hall, he has performed both Schumann’s Dichterliebe and Die schöne Müllerin, and with the Adelaide Chamber Singers, both Chichester Psalms and Beethoven No.9.
Jiacheng has also featured as a tenor soloist in Handel’s Messiah for both the Adelaide Harmony Choir and The Corinthian Singers of Adelaide, Nelson Mass (Adelaide Philharmonia Chorus), Carmina Burana (Victoria Chorale), Gounod Requiem (Victoria Chorale), Gala Spring Concert (Adelaide Harmony Choir), Mozart’s Requiem (Co-Opera), and Beethoven No.9 (Co-Opera).
