Tomas Dalton

TENOR

Tomas Dalton studied voice and piano at the Melbourne Conservatorium before undertaking further study in Italy as the recipient of the Acclaim Awards Italian Opera Fellowship and the Johnson Bequest. Tomas also won the AOAC Opera Award in 2020.

He has been critically acclaimed for his “commanding” and “refined” performances, and his “attractive voice and warmth of tone”…being compared to a young Pavarotti.

For Opera Australia Tomas has sung numerous roles, with recent highlights including: Alfredo Germont in Verdi’s La Traviata, and Nathanaël in Offenbach’s The Tales of Hoffmann. He has also recently understudied Rodolfo in Puccini’s La bohème, and Pinkerton in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly on Sydney Harbour.

Tomas has sung a number of roles for Victorian Opera, including The Witch in Humperdinck’s Hansel & Gretel, and has performed Tony Candolino in the Australian tour of Terrence McNally’s Master Class, and Pinkerton in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly for The Stonnington Classics. Tomas has also created roles in the world premiers of Ioannidis’s Women in War and Kats-Chernin’s Whiteley.

Tomas’s concert repertoire includes Mozart’s Requiem, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, Handel’s Solomon, Bach’s Magnificat, Verdi’s Requiem, and Hayden’s Paukenmesse, and he has toured Australia, Germany, Denmark, and France as a soloist with the Australian Chamber Choir.
