Violetta is the It Girl of Paris, the ultimate party princess whose company is worth every penny. She is charming, influential, and fiercely free.
She meets Alfredo and the rules of the game change. They fall madly in love but the society around them has other ideas.
The passionate and ultimately tragic tale of forbidden love between a courtesan and a simple man, La traviata has captured the hearts and imagination of audiences’ world over since its premiere. Giuseppe Verdi’s score contains some of the greatest opera arias and scenes ever composed.
Oliver von Dohnanyi leads the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and an ensemble of some of Australia’s most exciting singers in this thrilling new production by Sarah Giles.
State Opera is proud to present internationally acclaimed Australian soprano Lauren Fagan in her national operatic debut alongside rising tenor star Kang Wang as Alfredo.

Our season of 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞 at Adelaide Fringe will include a relaxed performance, on Sunday 17 March at 10am.
This performance has been carefully developed in partnership with Allied Health Professionals to provide a suitable experience for families of children with a range of sensory, communication and learning needs.
The performance includes:
➡️ a sensory-friendly break out space
➡️ children seated on the floor in front of the performance area are welcome to bring along a cushion
➡️ there is plenty of space to move around or leave the room without disrupting other patrons' experience
➡️ a visual storybook (social story) available for download on the State Opera website

Saw the performance today. It was great and the kids loved it 😎
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas when State Opera artists join the Adelaide Carols by Candlelight lineup!
Sopranos Desiree Frahn and Jessica Mills, baritone Nicholas Cannon and tenor Brock Roberts will be there with (jingle) bells on.

I can't wait to share in the music and festivities with these fantastic artists, this will be my first Carol's by Candlelight with Adelaide Philharmonia Chorus.
