G&S FEST

Pirates of Penzance

The Slave of Duty.

Her Majesty's Theatre

11 May - 20 May 2023

Yo Ho Ho, the pirates are coming to town!

A runaway success across Australia, The Pirates of Penzance is one of the most popular operettas ever written that both old salts and scallywags will equally enjoy. The story of a roguish pirate king and his adventurous young charge who explore the coastline in search of treasure and romance comes sailing into Adelaide with all the laughs, unforgettable melodies and tongue-twisting songs.

Flying the G&S flag, State Opera Artistic Director Stuart Maunder has assembled a star-studded cast led by Ben Mingay ‘swashing his buckle’ as the Pirate King. He’s joined in this epic adventure by a stellar cast: John Longmuir, Desiree Frahn, Douglas McNicol and Antoinette Halloran.

Anthony Hunt leads the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra in one of Sullivan‘s most boisterous, tuneful scores.
