A timeless tale of honour, love and selfless devotion, Madama Butterfly, is quite simply, powerhouse romantic opera. Puccini’s luminescent ‘Humming Chorus’ holds all the promise of a summer’s night, all the perfume of cherry blossoms — and all the anguish of a young girl desperately in love. An exquisite new production with sumptuously detailed costumes and scenery bathed in dreamy washes of colour, is as devastating as it is beautiful. Madama Butterfly is grand opera, on a grand scale.
