Adrian Strooper
TENORUntil 4 years ago, Cairns born tenor Adrian Strooper was in the ensemble of the Komische Oper Berlin where his repertoire included Tamino (The Magic Flute), Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Belmonte (The Abduction from the Seraglio), Ferrando (Così fan tutte), Count Almaviva (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) and Lenski (Eugene Onegin).
Before moving abroad, Adrian won the Italian Opera Award, The Metropolitan Opera Award and the German Operatic Award, which enabled him to study at The Metropolitan New York, Rome and the Cologne Opera Studio. Adrian has sung with the Nederland’s Bach Society (Arias Matthäus Passion), The Academy of Ancient Music (The Messiah), Noord Nederlands Orkest (Arias from Matthäus and Johannes Passion) and The Polish National Radio Symphony orchestra (The Rake’s Progress and Dido and Anaeas) and worked with Peter Brook on his Moliere Award winning Une Flute Enchentee. Adrian also performed in the Salzburg Festival (Young Artist and Romeo and Juliette), Festival D’aix en Provence (Pastore e Spirito in Orfeo with Rene Jacobs), the Adelaide Festival (Barry Kosky’s Saul and Die Zauberflöte) and the Innsbruck festival of Ancient music (world premiere La Stellidaura Vendicante by Provencal with Alessandro de Marchi).
Adrian moved back to Cairns in 2019 to spend more time with his young family and is developing his own company CARO voices.
