Gabrielle Penney

SOPRANO

Gabrielle Penney, a New Zealand/Australian Soprano, has a Bachelor of Music (Degree with Honours) from Melbourne Conservatorium of Music and graduated from Sydney Conservatorium of Music with a Master of Music Studies (Opera Performance) where she performed Sandrina from La finta giardiniera, Donna Elvira from Don Giovanni, La Bergère and Une Pastourelle from L’enfant et les Sortilèges.

During her studies, Gabrielle travelled to Germany twice where she performed Pamina from Die Zauberflöte at the Comödien Haus Bad Liebenstein with Lyric Opera Studio Weimar, and Gretel from Hänsel und Gretel at the Berlin Opera Academy. She also performed with the Thüringer Symphoniker Saalfeld-Rudolstadt as a soloist and ensemble member during her stay with the Lyric Opera Studio Weimar.

Gabrielle has recently been awarded the Prue Kennard Scholarship and the Singer of the Year Award for Melbourne Welsh Male Voice Choir. She has been a Young Artist with Pacific Opera and has been a recurring student at the New Zealand Opera School.
