Bernstein and beyond

Journey into the world of American music and Bernstein’s legacy. More than a genius of musical theatre, Leonard Bernstein was a masterful composer, influencing a generation of composers. Alongside Bernstein’s own music, this program explores those who influenced Bernstein, his contemporaries, and a range of new American Voices. Join tenor Kyle Stegall, soprano Desiree Frahn and pianist Josh van Konkelenberg and explore great American composers, including Samuel Barber, Ned Rorem, Rosephanye Powell and Logan Hahn.

Mozart’s Muses
Wonderful women and inspiring heroines

Mozart’s legendary inspiration had beautiful melodies and harmonies effortlessly pouring out of his pen. But behind every inspiration is a muse. Renowned Australian Pianist Anna Goldsworthy explores some of the women in Mozart’s life, both real women who inspired his compositions, and operatic characters who fired his imagination. She is joined by guest soprano Sky Ingram and mezzo-soprano Anna Dowsley, playing sisters Fiordiligi and Dorabella in the upcoming production of Così fan tutte, for a stirring recital at the wonderful UKARIA.

Passionate Puccini
Lovers, butterflies and sleepless nights

Celebrate the works of Puccini in the 100-year anniversary of his death, with two of Australia’s finest operatic stars. Puccini remains most celebrated opera composer of the romantic era, his work renowned for its exquisite storytelling, memorable melodies, and thrilling showcase of the human voice. Join tenor Paul O’Neill and soprano Cathy-Di Zhang, accompanied by State Opera’s Head of Music Anthony Hunt, to explore the legacy and romance of the great Giacomo Puccini.
