Rod Schultz

ACTOR/SINGER

Rod is a South Australian actor and singer who specialises in comic and character roles across opera and musical theatre. Originally from a small farming community on the Eyre Peninsula, Rod has established himself as a versatile performing artist.

Rod has toured extensively with Co-Opera, as Frank (Die Fledermaus), Masetto (Don Giovanni), Fiorello (The Barber of Seville), Monostatos/First Armed Man (The Magic Flute), Don Alfonso (Cosi fan tutte), Goro (Madama Butterfly), and Ko-Ko (The Mikado).

With State Opera South Australia Rod has performed as Frosch (Die Fledermaus) and manic servant Sante (Il Segreto di Susanna). Additionally, he co-wrote and presented Here’s a How-de-do as part of State Opera’s G&S FEST alongside Rosie Hosking and accompanist Penny Cashman.

Rod’s talents have been showcased in cabaret and corporate engagements and he continues to contribute to developing local new works. Other stage credits include First Sailor (Dido and Aeneas), Jeff ([Title of Show]), Dr Madden/Dr Fine (Next to Normal) and The Villain in The Musical of Musicals (The Musical!).

Rod’s experience in children’s theatre includes national tours for The Fairies and his current role of Oesoph A. Gus in That Science Gang’s You Are a Doughnut, touring Australia into 2025.
