
Rod Schultz
BASSRod is an experienced performing artist with a background in predominantly comic and character roles in musicals and opera.
Rod’s leading music theatre roles include Lawrence Jameson (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), Jeff ([Title of Show]), Fagin (Oliver!), The Man in the Saloon (Blues in the Night), Paul (A Chorus Line), The Baker (Into the Woods) and the title role in Sweeney Todd. Other stage credits include First Sailor (Dido and Aeneas), Dr Madden/Dr Fine (Next to Normal), Carl-Magnus (A Little Night Music), Collins (RENT), Thenardier (Les Misérables), The Musical of Musicals (The Musical!), along with extensive touring for The Fairies.
Since touring Australia and Malaysia as Frank (Die Fledermaus) in 2013, Rod has regularly traversed the country with Co-Opera in the roles of Masetto (Don Giovanni), Fiorello (The Barber of Seville), Monostatos/First Armed Man (The Magic Flute), Don Alfonso (Cosi fan tutte), Goro (Madama Butterfly), and as Ko-Ko (The Mikado).
Rod has featured with State Opera of South Australia as Frosch (Die Fledermaus) and as manic servant Sante in Il Segreto di Susanna for State Opera South Australia’s 2015 intermezzo series.
As a vocalist, Rod has performed cabaret, benefit concerts, for corporate engagements, and has contributed to developing local new works.
Currently, Rod can be seen as Oesoph A. Gus in That Science Gang’s You Are a Doughnut: a biological-musical-comedy for young people and their families, touring Australia into 2024.
