A love-sick Count, a feisty young woman, and a barber with a cunning plan. Rossini’s comic masterpiece The Barber of Seville is a giddy romp along the path to true love, by way of serenades, ridiculous disguises and trickery. If love makes a fool of us all, then this popular opera buffa is one of the greats. Imprisoned by her wicked guardian, the savvy Rosina is no match for lock and key, especially when the fast-talking, flashy Figaro turns up and promises to help her find the man of her dreams. This vivid and vivacious production features a dazzling collection of Australia’s opera stars.

A Co-Production between Opera Queensland, Seattle Opera and New Zealand Opera.

"Stunning" was the word used to describe Kate Cherry's Madama Butterfly last night. Hear for yourself what the audiences thought! ... See MoreSee Less

Bravo!!

Very disappointed not to be given a cast sheet and synopsis. This is a first for State Opera. I have collected these sheets since the 80’s. The Opera was excellent but I was sorry not to see Sorrow blind folded waving his little American flag.

Tasha Tarsha Cameron looks who's being interviewed!

Kylie Brown - watch this...

Gianna Guttilla and Alex Fowler! 😂❤️

It's not a night out unless you bawl your eyes out.

Madama Butterfly is one of the most loved operas, and audiences last night found out why. Don't miss your chance to catch it at the Adelaide Festival Centreuntil 23 November.

Angus Wood returns to his role of Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly after performing the same role for New Zealand Opera in 2015

“…The standout performance of the evening is Angus Wood as Pinkerton. He portrays Pinkerton as charismatic but entitled, out to get the best of what he can. From his first entrance he holds the stage and his vocal performance is rich, strong, and exhilarating. Wood gives us a performance that allows us to understand why Butterfly falls so deeply in love with him.” - Theatrereview.org.nz
