Keep The Home Fires Burning

Various Locations

18 Oct - 26 Oct 2018

Keep those Home Fires burning as we bring you a celebration of song. Join artists of the State Opera South Australia at 4 locations across South Australia.

Featuring the glorious music of Luke Dollman and his ‘Cheer Up’ orchestra we present a joyful evening of parlour songs, anthems and musical favourites.

Hear Gilbert & Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance, Iolanthe and The Mikado, orchestral excerpts from The Marriage of Figaro and popular hits; On the Road to Mandalay, Danny Boy, Keep the Home Fires Burning and many other songs from the era.

Beyond the Stage
The Red Cross Gala tour forms part of a larger initiative funded by the Federal Government through the Australian Research Council Linkage grant scheme, and the State Library of South Australia.

The ‘Beyond the Stage’ project explores the ways that the creative arts can shape our understanding of history, and South Australian society during and immediately after World War One.

Project partners include the University of Adelaide, State Library of SA, Flinders University, Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, State Opera of South Australia, State Theatre Company of SA, and the Adelaide Cabaret Festival.
