H.M.S. Pinafore

The Lass that Loved a Sailor.

Her Majesty's Theatre

12 May - 20 May 2023

A bit of Titanic, a bit of Love Boat: Gilbert and Sullivan’s wildly popular operetta H.M.S. Pinafore has delighted audiences since 1878 with this nautically-tinged story of star-crossed lovers.

Ralph is a lowly sailor and Josephine is the daughter of the captain, promised to marry the Admiral of the Fleet. They plan to elope, but surprise disclosures are on the cards for them. Will a happy ending be on the horizon?

State Opera’s glorious cast features Nicholas Jones and Jessica Dean as the high-seas sweethearts, Jeremy Kleeman as the hapless Captain Corcoran, Ben Mingay as Sir Joseph Porter and Antoinette Halloran as Little Buttercup, alongside the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra conducted by James Pratt.

Jump aboard, we promise endearing characters, memorable tunes and rollicking good times.
